Studying Sustainability with Us
Taking courses with members of the Competence Centre offers students and professionals the opportunity to gain essential expertise in climate and sustainability policy, ESG standards, sustainable design, and conservation practices. Our courses provide practical insights into the effects of climate policy, biodiversity conservation, sustainable business practices, responsible design methods, and the development of effective ESG frameworks.
- Ass. Prof. Jacobo Amendola鈥檚 鈥淧roject 2鈥�: This course engages participants in real-world projects in collaboration with external partners like BASIS Vinschgau Venosta and the Comune di Bolzano. Projects address sustainability issues such as land conservation, social cohesion, circular economy strategies, waste reduction, cultural accessibility, gender equality, and climate change mitigation.
- Prof. Elisabeth Gsottbauer鈥檚 鈥淓conomics of Climate Change鈥�: This course provides a deep dive into the economic principles behind climate policy, enabling participants to navigate and implement effective ESG strategies. Her 鈥淪ustainable Mobility鈥� course also explores barriers to green transport and assesses policy tools like taxes, zoning, and nudges to foster sustainable mobility.
- Prof. Aart van Bezoijn鈥檚 鈥淒esign and Production鈥�: Focusing on practical application, this course covers a wide array of production techniques, from self-built tools to industrial systems, and encourages businesses to critically assess traditional and sustainable methods within circular and bio-based sectors.
- Prof. Camilla Wellstein鈥檚 鈥淎pplied Botany鈥�: This course emphasizes conservation and management techniques, focusing on biodiversity and ecosystem services relevant to sustainable business operations.
- Prof. Paolo Perego鈥檚 鈥淪ustainability Accounting and Integrated Reporting鈥�: This course develops participants鈥� understanding of current trends in sustainability accounting, emphasizing both theoretical concepts and practical applications for businesses to align with ESG standards.
Student Involvement
Students are encouraged to write their bachelor or master thesis under the supervision of a member of the Centre. Prof. Massimiliano Bonacchi and his team designed and executed a tailored executive degree program for Sparkasse on ESG skills for the financial sector. They also provided a customized short course specifically for Sparkasse鈥檚 leadership team.
