Social Sustainability

Social sustainability means promoting social cohesion to achieve sustainability goals, emphasising inclusivity and well-being for all. It also encompasses physical and social design, including infrastructure, amenities, civic engagement, and spaces for people, while integrating principles of environmental sustainability and social equity.

Design for a Sustainable Future

This area covers the incorporation of sustainable principles into design practices

Activities:

  • Collaborated with BASIS Vinschgau-Venosta, KAUZ 鈥� laboratory for climate justice, the Citizen Cooperative Obervinschgau, and unibz 鈥� Faculty of Design and Art to co-organize the annual conference 鈥淏y Design or By Disaster鈥�.
  • Partnered with Botteghe del Mondo 鈥� Weltl盲den S眉dtirol, OEW 鈥� Organisation for a solidary world (Brixen), and Slow Fashion Journalist Susanne Barta to co-organize the 鈥淔ashion for Future鈥� festival.
  • Co-organized UPCON 鈥� Upcycling Convention in Brixen with REX 鈥� Materials and things (Bozen) and OEW 鈥� Organisation for a solidary world (Brixen).
  • Collaborated with the VIVO garden student initiative to organize a seminar on 鈥淐reative Composting 鈥� Communities, Circularity, and Microorganisms鈥�.
  • Cp-held the conference 鈥淪tring Figures 鈥� By Design or by Disaster鈥� from 29 March 2023 to 1 April 2023, featuring the annual gathering of the MA Eco-Social Design.
  • Co-organized "Fashion For Future Bolzano" from 27 April 2023 to 6 May 2023, focusing on sustainable and fair fashion with social conferences, materials exhibitions, and interactive workshops.
  • Hosted a seminar on 鈥淐reative Composting 鈥� Communities, Circularity and Microorganisms鈥� with Ayumi Matsuzaka on 6 December 2023, focusing on community-based Terra Preta Soil production in Berlin.

HYDRO

The HYDRO 鈥� Economia dell'idrogeno e mobilit脿 sostenibile: analisi delle ricadute territoriali e sociali nelle province di Trento e Bolzano aims to investigate the dynamics of social acceptance and institutional awareness of the emerging hydrogen economy in these territories.
