Discussion on the topic of mixed-language schools - Insight - also with the help of experts from the school and kindergarten sector - into the basics and latest developments in the integration of children and young people with a migration background. Presentation of legal cases and discussion. - Human rights and children's rights - presentation and group work - Admission to the civil service and ranking lists: experts from the education sector give a presentation and answer students' questions - Profound knowledge of the South Tyrolean education system, especially kindergarten and primary school

The optional course takes place remotely. Attention and active participation in the course – questions and discussion An essential component is the lecture and the examination of legal cases in the education system.

Obietifs formatifs
The following competences are developed in the course: - To find one's way within the kindergarten and school as institutions and places of learning from a legal perspective and to use this for professional realisation. - To gain a concrete insight into the everyday life of kindergarten and school from a legal perspective and to learn how to deal with these situations through presentations, inviting experts and working together on legal cases, judgements and various legal situations in schools and kindergartens. - By reviewing key legal areas, laws and other legal sources relating to kindergartens and schools, students will be able to deepen their knowledge of certain topics, understand them better and deal with them. - Be informed and up to date on the latest developments, reforms and their implementation in the education sector. - Gain professionalism and basic knowledge in the legal field of schools and kindergartens, undergo continuous further training, always be up to date and adapt their own skills to changes in the world of education. Expected learning outcomes and competences: Knowledge and understanding Students know the most important provisions of the Italian and South Tyrolean kindergarten regulations/school regulations as well as the rights and duties of children and pupils and educational staff/teachers. They know the job description and tasks of educational staff/teaching staff, can describe them and correctly categorise the developments of this job description in the context of new challenges due to various reforms in the education system. They familiarise themselves with the complex legal areas of kindergarten and school institutions. Applying knowledge and understanding Students will be able to apply their knowledge of kindergarten and school regulations in everyday teaching/pedagogical work. They know and analyse the scope of tasks, the areas of specialisation and the various competences of the job description of a kindergarten teacher. Judgement Students are aware of the impact and legal responsibility of their professional decisions. They recognise, collect and analyse indicators for the evaluation and self-assessment of their competences and the further development of their professional profile. Communication Students recognise the importance of new media and digital communication within the kindergarten/school, between different kindergartens/schools and with other educational institutions. Learning strategies The various areas of law are illustrated by discussing, working on and solving cases together so that students gain a realistic insight into the legal matters they will be confronted with in their profession. In addition, some important legal sources are explained (autonomy statute - collective agreements - relevant laws and resolutions), which they need for exam preparation and which they can then also understand and implement.

One educational goal is for students to understand that a law, a decision or another source of law is not a dead letter, but is applied in many different ways. For this reason, around 30 legal cases are presented and discussed.

Sort de ejam
Written final examination (written exam), 120 minutes: Essay on two to three subject areas that have been dealt with in particular depth and in detail together with the students.

Criters de valutazion
The assessment relates to the topics covered, the expected learning outcomes and the specific educational objectives. Criteria for assessment are: Detailed treatment of the topic, legal correctness, accuracy, structure and presentation of the various arguments, reference to the sources, ability to analyse and reflect, use of technical language, personal conclusions and in-depth reflections on the individual topics.
